SAN FRANCISCO – June 6, 2018 – We’re excited to announce our ability to support the JavaScript ecosystem as it continues to grow thanks to the newest member to join the JS Foundation, Accenture, a leading global professional services company.

Accenture helps clients solve tough challenges through services in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations. They partner with more than three-quarters of the Fortune Global 500 with expertise across more than 40 industries and all business functions, delivering transformational outcomes for a demanding new digital world.

“JavaScript is eating the enterprise at an incredible pace,” said Matt Lancaster, Global Software Innovation Architecture Lead at Accenture. “Between our large portfolio of software development work and being the world’s largest Digital Agency, JavaScript has become integral to our and our clients’ success. JavaScript is now pervasive in our work, and our 10,000+ JavaScript developers succeed or fail in no small part on the strength of their tools and the community around them. A strong community and robust foundational technologies are in everyone’s best interest. We view the JS Foundation as a key piece of ensuring this takes place.”

The JS Foundation couldn’t agree more with that sentiment. “A key point in the JS Foundation’s mission is to facilitate collaboration within the JavaScript development community to ensure projects maintain the quality and diverse contribution bases needed to provide long-term sustainability,” said Kris Borchers, Executive Director of the JS Foundation. “Accenture’s commitment to support the JS Foundation and our growing portfolio of open source JavaScript projects is a major milestone in our journey to sustain the JavaScript ecosystem.”

Accenture will help support the JS Foundation’s projects strategically by joining the board of directors. The company’s membership will help fund the many ongoing efforts and services provided to our projects and the community such as our project mentorship program, events such as JS Interactive, and standards work at ECMA and W3C to continue advancing the web platform and representing the JS developer voice in developing the language and APIs they use every day. Accenture is working towards contributing developer time to a number of the JS Foundation’s key projects to provide the technical expertise needed to support, improve, and grow these projects for the benefit of all developers and organizations that depend on them.

Accenture joins a group of industry peers in helping build and shape the ecosystem for JavaScript technology, its use cases and applications. With this addition, we continue to build support throughout our project ecosystem and evolve the model for sustainable open source JavaScript from a single project focus to an encompassing, umbrella effort across the many projects driving innovation in this space. Keep an eye out for more great content and announcements from our newest member.
